Street Pianist & International Musician - Stephen Ridley

Stephen Ridley is a British pianist, artist, and entrepreneur with an incredible story. He started playing piano at just two years old, studied at Durham University, and eventually built a career in investment banking. But despite the success and security, he knew it wasn’t the life he wanted.

Stephen left banking, bought a £100 second-hand piano, and took it onto the streets of London. That decision eventually led to a career performing in more than 60 countries and building his own music education company.

Along the way, street performing taught him valuable lessons about putting your work out there, handling feedback, building confidence, and dealing with rejection. He also learned the importance of knowing when to say no and how to make a living from his art.

There are so many similarities between Stephen’s journey as a musician and the experiences we have as painters. His story is a great reminder that there isn’t one specific path to building a creative career. Sometimes taking a completely different path can lead you somewhere you never expected.
